Celebrate Father’s Day with Baker Days & Competition

When it comes to buying gifts for people I absolutely suck at it, with most of my family members I find it impossible to buy for so any sites that make gift buying easier i’m all for it. So if you struggle to find gifts like I do then you have to get yourself over to baker days.

The baker days website is really easy to navigate, you can choose between cakes and cupcakes allowing you to have a pre-made design or why not personalise it. The cakes allow you to choose from a variety of options whether it would be a letter box cake or a large cake and a variety of cake fillings giving you lots of options for your delicious sweet gift. The letter box cakes range from £14.99 to £17.99 depending on what you have chosen for your filling.

So once you’ve chosen your cake size, sponge type, design and personalised your special gift if you wish your ready to go. If you’ve ordered before 2pm then you’ll have your cake next working day!

All of baker days letterbox cakes are around 5″ and sent in a gift tin allowing your special gift to arrive in perfect condition and keeping it fresh for up to 14 days. The cakes come complete with candles and balloons, and their large cakes come with a beautiful cake slicer, it really does add a special touch to a cake delivery service.

I opted for the rich chocolate chip sponge, but you can choose from lovely lemon drizzle, traditional sponge, fabulous fruit, dairy free sponge and gluten wheat free sponge. I was a little optimistic about the sponge remaining moist but the sponge was full of flavour and not the slightest bit dry remaining in tip top condition, literally dent free thanks to the little cute tin cake it comes in. I’d say that the letter box cake gives you around 4-5 servings depending on how big you like your slices, to be honest I could probably polish off a full one *hides*.

The price of the cake does seem pretty much on the steep side, but honestly it’s worth it especially if it is a gift for a loved one.

Love the sound of a letter box cake? well why not treat your Dad this Father’s Day by entering my competition below to win your own!

3D Printed Fairy Door

PicMonkey Collage.jpg

Coming up with new ideas for children’s Christmas presents is incredibly hard, well at least I find it to be, I find myself searching my brain constantly and it probably doesn’t make it any easier with my daughter Scarlett being 2 as she can’t really suggest what she wants. Searching the internet endlessly for ideas I came across fairy doors, which I believe are around £10-£15, I think it’s such a cute idea and perfect present for children to keep their little imaginations running wild. The idea of them is to pop them against your skirting boards and it creates a magical door way to fairy & elf world.

Lucky for me though my model maker husband has various 3D printers and suggested that he would 3D model and print it using REAL wood infused filament. For those of you who are interested, the process taken to make it included modelling a simple shaped door in a programme called Fusion360 and then using a clay sculpting programme (Zbrush) to carve out the shapes and the detail such as the rocks and wood grain. After completing it, the door was then printed on one of his 3D printers and finished painting in acrylic paints, he created a video on the making of it here:

Childrens Christmas Gift Guide

animated-christmas-lights-gif-10-jul-2013-02-07-35k-lmn8nk-clipart

It’s December!!! Seriously where has this year gone?! it’s flown by, so that means it’s time for Christmas. I used to always dread Christmas time since my mum passed so i’d often work Christmas Day with working in the care sector but since having Scarlett I get so excited for her, now she’s almost 3 years old she knows what Christmas is, it is truly amazing seeing her eyes light up.

The only downside to Christmas now is that I have absolutely no idea what to get her, so I complied a list of her favourite things such as shows etc and bought her at least one item of each. I’m sure I am not the only parent that struggles with what gifts to buy their kids so I thought this gift guide might help.

Trolls headphones (£19.99), Amazon Fire kids tablet (£100), Mermaid knitted blanket (£11.98), Shopkins set (£4.49), Shopkins pjs (£6.49), Trolls bedding (£10.49), My little pony (£14.99), Paw patrol toy (£9.99)

Children’s Christmas Eve Box

xmaseve1 xmaseve2

My husband stumbled upon a Christmas Eve box for children last year filled with all sorts of goodies that your baby/toddler/child can open on Christmas Eve to get into the Christmas spirit and in my opinion it’s a bloody good idea. We did one last year but because Scarlett was only 9 months at the time she was a little young for it, though non the less she enjoyed watching The Snowman in some gorgeous thumper pjs in the middle of a chaotic house move, yes we did move on Boxing Day! eek.

So, we want to make it a tradition that every year she has a little special box that the elves bring her before heading off to santa to get her presents ready for the morning! I think i’m more excited than she is to be honest.

What’s in the box?

The Grinch DVD (£3, ASDA)

Frozen Colouring Book (£3, The Entertainer Shop)

Bic Pencil Crayons (£1.50, Wilkinsons)

Fleece Pjs (£6.99, ASDA)

Thorntons Snowman Chocolate (£2, ASDA)

It doesn’t have to burn a hole into your pocket and cost the earth and you can tailor it to what you like!

What do you think?

Mothers Day Gift Guide

Please note: These images are not my own

With Mothering Sunday fast approaching being just a couple of weeks away (Sunday 15th March), I thought that I would put together a gift idea post for those that are struggling what to buy. I have included a couple of ideas that are based on what other half can purchase on behalf of their children. In my opinion you do not need a specific named day to appreciate your Mum and tell them that you love them, that should be any day!

After losing my Mum in 2007 I personally know that you can never take for granted the time that you have with them, every year I still buy her a huge bunch of flowers that sit on my window in remembrance of her, especially lilies which were her favourite. That being said, I always did love spoiling her on Mothers Day when she was here just to make her feel that extra special.

M&S Flower Bouquet – £35

Everyone loves flowers, especially me! I am absolutely obsessed with buying them, I blame my Mum. They are a gorgeous and yet a simple gift if you are struggling what to buy.

Pandora Baby Girl Charm – £35

To be honest I have been eyeing this up and hinting to my partner for this charm myself. Due to my little girl being so young my partner buys me gifts for Mothers day, this charm is perfect for those who love Pandora and who have kids. I absolutely love the little handprint, it is really cute and a sweet gift for any Mums out there.

Marc Jacobs – Dot  50ml – £34.99

I have been absolutely obsessed with all the Marc Jacobs perfumes ever since I have smelt them. If you are struggling with gift buying then fragrance is a really easy gift to buy especially if you know your Mum’s favourite fragrance.

Fingerprint Charm Necklace – £85

Another super cute gift, especially for those who have smaller children is this fingerprint charm necklace. I love anything like this and it gives the gift a more of a special touch in my opinion as it is personal.

Personalised Photo Memory Cushion – £40

Personally I would love one of these when Scarlett is a little older and can draw, this super cute personalised gift again is perfect for those with younger children (nudge nudge Dads/partners!).

Valentines Gift Guide

Last minute Valentines gift buying? look no further!

I am not really fussed for Valentines day, to be honest why do you need a certain day to let your partner know that you love them, although I do love gifts and chocolate, lots of it! My partner is so hard to buy for and definitely not one for soppy gifts, he loves technology so here is a gift guide for both him and her if you are struggling for ideas.

This year I am working and we have the little lady so we will not really be able to do anything special other than a home cooked meal, so we have decided to exchange gifts. He decided to get me a grey leather Pandora bracelet which I been wanting as I lost my one I got for my 21st a couple of years ago, I had also decided rather than just buying any old charm for it I wanted them to mean something. He also bought me a gorgeous silver Openwork Heart charm to go with the bracelet. I asked him what he wanted this year and he really wanted to upgrade his phone to an Iphone 6+ so I paid off his remaining contract and now he is over the moon with his new phone, and I must admit I am slightly jealous.
